Business Challenge
PureWest Christie’s International Real Estate is a Montana-based brokerage firm with 18 locations and more than 225 agents across the state. PureWest has partnered with Blackfoot Communications for VoIP services and internet transport circuits since 2016. While renewing their contract in 2020, Director of Operations, Ashley Grassa, shared some current business challenges they were facing. To address these issues, Blackfoot dedicated account manager, Dusty St John, presented a fully managed solution.

Our Solution
First, Dusty recommended reducing PureWest’s cost of voice and internet by leveraging 3rd party circuits for their service. Dusty also advised on adding Managed Firewall with automatic failover for cybersecurity, and Managed Connectivity to simplify network management.
Blackfoot’s Managed Firewall solution uses a Cisco Meraki device that is situated between PureWest’s internal network and the public internet to protect the network from external intrusions. Their firewall is administered by Blackfoot’s experts who are focused on network security all day, every day – effectively reducing PureWest’s probability of a cyberattack.
In addition, Blackfoot’s Managed Firewall solution provides enhanced security features and an automatic 4G failover in case of an outage. Our Cisco Meraki device monitors the heartbeat of PureWest’s network, and if it senses that the primary internet circuit is no longer available, the device will automatically traverse the traffic to a secondary Verizon 4G failover circuit. An added benefit is that the 4G circuit is both geographically and carrier diverse, which provides a safety net in case of network-wide outages and ensures PureWest stays online.
Finally, PureWest’s solution includes Managed Connectivity, which offloads all internet provider trouble ticket management and issue resolution on Blackfoot. We aggregate all circuits, as well as manage the billing and troubleshooting on behalf of PureWest for their seven vendors including ISPs, hardware, and software providers.

Blackfoot delivered a consistent deployment at 14 remote sites for PureWest. The rollout was a smooth and coordinated effort, with minimal service disruption.
